Abinadab [father of liberality].
1. A man of Kirjath-jearirm, who when the ark was sent back by the Philistines gave it accommodation in his house for twenty years, his son Eleazar being set apart as a priest to act as its custodian (1 Sam. 7:1,2; 2 Sam. 6:3; 1 Chrou. 13:7).
2. The second son of Jesse and an elder brother of David (1 Sam. 16:8; 17:13).
3. A son of Saul, killed with his father in the battle of Gilboa (1 Sam. 31:2).
4. Father of a son-in-law of Solomon and tax-gatherer for the region of Dor (1 Kin. 4:11).
